October Holiday Mini Sessions, Part 2 – Atlanta | Atlanta Family Photographer

Oh my goodness, how the weather can surprise you from day to day here in Georgia! I type this as we experience an actual snowstorm (not just ice!) here in December for the first time in as long as I can remember… and just last weekend, the temps were in the mid-60s! Weather is always a tricky component for photographers like me who use natural light and shoot primarily outdoors. The last weekend in October, I had mini sessions set up at my favorite place to shoot, Garrard Landing Park.  That morning, the weather took a drastic turn for the worse, but I had a couple client families who wanted to stick with their session, so we just bundled up and headed out into the cold! Both families ended up with some of my favorite images of the season, so I guess the cold worked to our advantage. That same week, I did another little session at the polo fields in the Vinings, and as you can see, it was quite a bit warmer… ah, weather in the South. 🙂 We had lots of fun spotting horses and totally should have brought them carrots as a snack!

H Family Fall Mini Session – Cabbagetown | Atlanta Family Photographer

It was a blustery, cold, and dreary morning when I met the H family over in Cabbagetown Park for their family mini session last month. But how darling is little Hazel in her cheery red coat?? Clients are sometimes hesitant to do their sessions outside during the late fall/winter months, but the weather can really work to our benefit when we add in pops of color or pattern with things like cute coats, blankets, and scarves. I primarily shoot outdoors in natural light, so it’s hard to get around those cold days this time of year. I love embracing the elements to really play up the winter look, and who doesn’t like an excuse to cuddle extra close to those they love most anyway?

November Holiday Mini Sessions, Part 1 – Atlanta | Atlanta Family Photographer

November has been busy busy busy! I’ve spent the majority of my time photographing some of my favorite families for holiday cards, and I always adore seeing them and their growing children (and puppies!) each year. I got to shoot at Candler Park, as well as two Smyrna/NW Atlanta favorites — Whittier Mill and Durham Park. Shooting in a variety of settings each weekend is always fun and helps me keep things interesting and unique for each family. I have a lot more to come, but here’s a peak at my first few sessions from November!

An Extended Family Fall Session – Vinings | Atlanta Family Photographer

I don’t photograph a lot of extended families, but I am always thrilled to have the opportunity to shoot this crew each fall. They’re great friends of ours, and I just can’t believe how big their kids have gotten. And how lucky are these grandparents to have so many fun, silly, adorable grandchildren? There is no shortage of love in this family, and I’m thankful to be a part of it, both as their photographer and friend. We have been doing these sessions for years now, so we always try to find a new location and change of scenery. The polo fields in the Vinings were the perfect spot for something a little different, and the kids got so crazy excited over feeding carrots to the lone horse there that day. I hope you enjoy some of my faves!

James’ Newborn Session – Chattanooga, TN | Atlanta Newborn Photographer

This little guy is the fifth male in his family to be given the name James… what a wonderful thing to be able to carry from generation to generation. I drove up to Chattanooga, TN to shoot this session for a sweet friend, and it was so worth the drive from Atlanta! I could not get over his head of dark brown hair, and he was so sleepy and snuggly.  He’s one lucky boy to have parents like his, and I am so happy for this little family of three. Welcome to the world, James!
